Federal Budget and Tax Outlook Briefing for Grantmakers

Each year, Grantmakers Income Security Taskforce (GIST) and Grantmakers for Children, Youth and Families (GCYF) co-sponsor an Annual Budget and Tax Briefing for their members.  This year, to increase the reach of this discussion to grantmakers who are unable to travel to Washington DC, the keynote address from this annual briefing, featuring Bob Greenstein of the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities, was made available to GWP members via live webstream.

The POISE Foundation recently announced the publication of their first position paper entitled, “Strengthening Black Families: A Case for Philanthropic Investment.”

On June 26th, GWP members had the opportunity to take a deeper look at the framework of this paper and discuss POISE’s rational behind their shift to a family-centered approach and the Strengthening Black Families (SBF) program strategy as a promising case example.

The Philanthropy Forum at GSPIA, GWP, The Forbes Funds and Greater Pittsburgh Nonprofit Partnership (GPNP) are collaborating to present a series of programs focused on investing for greater impact.  The first session, held in January 2015, explored the topic of impact investing/mission investing.  In this second session, held in March 2015, we considered deeper capitalization strategies.
