The Heinz Endowments has announced funding to support local arts and cultural programs to mitigate the severe effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on the region’s creative sector.
More than $12.1 million in grants has been awarded to address systemic issues that affect Black communities and strengthen nonprofit programs that support African-American families in the Pittsburgh region.
Advancing Black Arts in Pittsburgh, a joint program of The Pittsburgh Foundation and The Heinz Endowments, has awarded $456,000 to individual artists and art programs for the initiative’s 2020 grant-making cycle.
The Greater Pittsburgh Arts Council has received $50,000 for the Emergency Fund for Artists from The Pittsburgh Foundation, The Heinz Endowments and The Opportunity Fund which will be used to support artists of color affected by the covid-19 epidemic.
The Heinz Endowments and FISA Foundation have awarded nearly $250,000 in grants to encourage local organizations to be more inclusive and welcoming of people with disabilities.
