Last Monday, on Martln Luther King Day, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette published an editorial entitled ”Reason As Racism: An Immigration Debate Gets Derailed.” Within 24 hours, the CEOs of The Heinz Endowments and The Pittsburgh Foundation responded with a blog post entitled ”Shame.” In the post, they contend that the region’s newspaper of record had “done our community and the cause of justice a grave disservice” and urge the paper to reconsider. Dozens of former Post-Gazette staffers reportedly also wrote the editor to express their concerns.
