GPAC Making Pittsburgh Arts more Accessible

Thursday, January 29, 2015

The Greater Pittsburgh Arts Council has been selected to receive a $35,000 Art Works grant from the National Endowment for the Arts to support their Increasing Accessibility in Pittsburgh Arts & Culture initiative.  In 2010, GPAC and FISA Foundation partnered to create a regional initiative to increase access to the arts for people with disabilities. Over the past three years, the Increasing Accessibility to Pittsburgh Arts and Culture initiative has become a national model for regional efforts to increase access to the arts for patrons, volunteers, employees and artists with disabilities.  The NEA award will be matched locally by the FISA Foundation and will be used for a workshop series that educates nonprofit arts managers on best practices to provide accessibility for patrons, staff, volunteers and artists with disabilities.
