The Jewish Association on Aging, a 100 year old non-profit agency providing a wide range of senior services, is entering a new form of innovative partnership with private developer Continental Real Estate to redevelop and reimagine their Browns Hill Road campus. Through this partnership, the site will be transformed from a traditional nursing-centered facility into a modern urban village model centered around supporting seniors' independence. This new form of private-non-profit partnership is an alternative to more traditional debt-based redevelopment and exclusive non-profit management model, designed to maximize financial sustainability and market competitiveness while retaining a strong social mission at the core.
JAA Board chair Louis Plung (Louis Plung & Company) and Steve Halpern (Woodland Management) will provide first-hand insight into the industry trends that led JAA to explore redevelopment options, how they arrived at this new and creative model, and their vision for the future of the agency with this new campus.
This meeting will be virtual. Connection details will be provided upon registration.
The Jewish Funders Learning Network is an informal network of philanthropists and grantmaking professionals in Pittsburgh who fund Jewish causes. Modeled after other GWP funder learning networks, and run in partnership with the Jewish Federation of Greater Pittsburgh, the purpose of this network is to create a space where:
- People who think about grantmaking in the Jewish space can meet each other
- Relationships are formed that carry beyond network activities
- Funders have somewhere to go to safely and productively raise and discuss questions and concerns with their peers
- Funders with common interests and approaches can form coalitions to address common causes
