The last few years have challenged philanthropy and the communities we serve in unprecedented ways, and now more than ever, leadership in the fight for equity, inclusion and social justice. The COVID-19 pandemic, economic recession, and racial injustice have shined a light on what we have all known for far too long: inequities are structural. People with disabilities have been disproportionately impacted by each crisis, each budget cut, and every civil rights issue. Our collective work to strengthen communities is incomplete if we fail to explicitly include people with disabilities in our equity agendas.

Ford Foundation has led a philanthropic movement promoting disability as part of diversity. FISA Foundation and The Heinz Endowments have been joined by the Pittsburgh Foundation, the Opportunity Fund, Staunton Farm Foundation, United Way and Women & Girls Foundation in signing the Disability Inclusion Pledge. Each organization that has signed has committed to embark on a learning journey, starting with preliminary disability inclusion action steps.

Join us for this session, during which we will learn more about the journey of the local organizations who have signed onto the Disability Inclusion Pledge and how our region can be better poised to move toward a future of inclusion and equity for all.
