What can the philanthropic community do to help small and mid-sized arts organizations have the opportunity to make the kinds of contributions they are capable of making to this community?
On behalf of The Heinz Endowments, The Pittsburgh Foundation and the Greater Pittsburgh Arts Council, join us for this special roundtable to discuss "The Unsung Majority" report which looked at arts organizations in the region with budgets under $1.5 million.
The research was conducted by the consulting firm TDC and sought to answer a series of questions about what might contribute to the strength and artistic evolution of genres such as music, theater, and dance. We will share the findings and questions raised by the research as well as share some new data that GPAC has begun to examine about giving to small and mid-sized arts organizations locally. Representatives from our small and mid-sized organizations will join us to provide a reality check about how the data and findings play out in their everyday work as well as share what kinds of things are happening that they are seeing or leading on their own.
The format of this program will allow for plenty of conversation and open dialogue on issues facing this critical segment of the community. Representatives from the art-making community include: Karla Boos, Artistic Director, Quantum Theater; Beth Corning, Artistic Director, Corning Works; Erin Perry, Executive Director, Legacy Arts Project; Celeste C. Smith, Executive Director, 1Hood Media and Jeffrey Carpenter, Artistic Director of Bricolage Production Company.
Organized by: Justin Laing, Senior Program Officer for Arts & Culture, The Heinz Endowments, Tiffany Wilhelm, Deputy Director of the Greater Pittsburgh Arts Council and Germaine Williams, Senior Program Office for Arts & Culture, The Pittsburgh Foundation
