Cause Marketing Forum has just released its benchmarking report of checkout giving for 2014. Based on results from 77checkout campaigns that exceeded $1 million, the nation’s top retailers and restaurants raised about $388 million in 2014. The total represents a slight drop from 2012, the first year Cause Marketing Forum tracked this data. Nonprofits focused on children’s health were the most widely supported, with a total of $199 million or 51 percent of funds raised. The three highest-grossing campaigns were eBay’s Giving Works program; Walmart and Sam’s Club’s Miracle Balloon campaign for the Children’s Miracle Network hospitals; and McDonald’s coin collection for Ronald McDonald House Charities.
