The National Philanthropic Trust has released a striking analysis of data from the 1,000+ charitable organizations that administer donor-advised funds (DAFs) including more than 600 community foundations, national gift funds and other charitable sponsors. In 2013, contributions to DAFs constituted about 5.2 percent of all charitable gifts made. Assets managed in DAFs grew more than 19 percent in 2013 over their 2012 levels, reaching a total of more than $53.7 billion. The increasing flexibility of donor-advised funds are now making them the fasting-growing vehicle for giving in the U.S.
