Community Foundations in our region are moving decisively to help those in need during the Covid-19 crisis. These funds will provide critical support to those who are facing challenges such as lost income, housing and food instability. This is a list of the funds that have been created by GWP Member Community Foundations.
The Pittsburgh Foundation Emergency Action Fund
The Emergency Action Fund is intended to help our region's vulnerable populations recover from the effects of COVID-19. The fund launched in partnership with the United Way of SWPA and $1 million donations from Hillman Family Foundations, The Heinz Endowments, Richard King Mellon Foundation and The Pittsburgh Foundation. Elk County Community Foundation COVID-19 Assistance Fund
In response to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the Elk County Community Foundation is establishing the COVID-19 Assistance Fund. The Community Foundation will administer grants from the fund to nonprofit organizations in Elk County that are serving vulnerable populations. Support may also be given to nonprofits who have seen detrimental impacts to their fiscal and administrative operation as a result of a loss of revenue, fundraising, or staffing.
Washington County Community Foundation Close to Home Disaster and Emergency Fund
This fund has been created provide grants to human service organizations serving Washington County, Pennsylvania, in response to local disasters and emergencies. More than $120,000 in grants has already been awarded.
Community Foundation for the Alleghenies COVID-19 Rapid Response Fund
The fund is designed to quickly provide financial resources to organizations meeting the community’s critical and changing needs, such as health, human services, and economic challenges.
Community Foundation of Fayette Count Emergency Relief Fund
The Emergency Relief Fund will provide grants to health and human service organizations serving Fayette County, PA in response to local disasters and emergencies.
Community Foundation of Greene County Emergency Response Fund
The purpose of the fund, created in partnership with The Greene County United Way, is to provide quick, flexible grants and resources to nonprofit organizations our area working with communities who are heavily impacted by a local disasters and emergencies.
Crawford Heritage Community Foundation Emergency Respond Fund
The community foundation has established an Emergency Response Fund in order to respond to needs that will arise from the current crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and future emergencies.
The Erie Community Foundation Rapid Response Fund
The fund, which attracted more than 250 donors, awarded close to $700,000 to Erie County nonprofits that offer assistance to those in need by providing food, caring for children, serving the elderly or helping those suffering from job loss-hardship due to COVID-19.
