More than ten years ago, Gregg Behr of The Grable Foundation convened a small group of thought leaders and educators to think about new ways to engage students in learning that will prepare them for a complex and fast-paced future. The result is Remake Learning: a robust network of more than 500 organizations working to promote learning that is engaging, relevant and equitable. The Finnish nonprofit HundrED has been partnering with the Grable Foundation and Remake Learning to identify the most impactful and scalable education innovations coming out of Pittsburgh, and the outcomes include a just released comprehensive report and a short documentary series about Pittsburgh. Pittsburgh was selected for HundrED’s first Spotlight in North America, and the materials will help educators from around the world learn what’s happening in our region and replicate it in their own.
- The HundrED Spotlight on Pittsburgh report is a comprehensive summary -- this 70-page report includes context about the educational landscape in the Pittsburgh region, observations from HundrED and the Grable Foundation, and detailed descriptions of the 12 Spotlight Innovations.
- On this YouTube playlist, you’ll find short videos about each of the 12 Spotlight innovations and a summary video that introduces the “Pittsburgh dozen” as a whole.
