Business Roundtable Redefines The Purpose Of A Corporation To Promote ‘An Economy That Serves All Americans’

The Business Roundtable, an association of the CEOs of nearly 200 of America’s largest and most influential companies, made waves earlier this month when it issued a co-signed statement on “the purpose of a corporation.”  The new statement moves companies away from shareholder primacy, and outlines a new standard for corporate responsibility-- including environmental protections, investing in employees and dealing fairly and ethically with their suppliers.
