As demonstrated by brands like Aetna, HP and Toyota, employees who participate in social-purpose activities have higher employee engagement. Yet the question remains: do those activities increase employee engagement or are engaged employees more likely to choose to participate? Research conducted in 2018 by Voluntare, Orange in Spain, Repsol in Spain and PwC in Colombia, has identified the causes and relationships between highly engaged employees and social-purpose activities.
