He’s lived in Pennsylvania most of his life. He grew up in Delaware County, Pa., and graduated from Philadelphia’s La Salle University in 2005. After college, he spent a year working at a homeless shelter in Tacoma, Wash., as part of a yearlong volunteer program.
He worked as a stringer for a suburban section of The Philadelphia Inquirer, covered K-12 education for the Centre Daily Times in State College, and spent more than six years as an investigative and political reporter at the York Daily Record/Sunday News.
He was part of a team of reporters whose watchdog coverage of the criminal justice system received the 2018 G. Richard Dew Award, which is the top honor for outstanding journalism from the Pennsylvania NewsMedia Association Foundation.
His work on gaps in Pennsylvania’s gun and domestic violence laws was a finalist in the 2018 Livingston Awards for Young Journalists, a national contest funded by the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation and the University of Michigan. The awards recognize the best journalism by professionals under age 35 across all platforms, including text, visual and audio storytelling.
