Karris Jackson, Vice President of Programs at POISE Foundation, was one of 50 individuals from across the world to receive a travel grant to attend the Global Summit on Community Philanthropy. The Summit was held December 1-2, 2016 in Johannesburg, South Africa. Over 350 participants representing more than 60 countries convened to explore how community philanthropy can move towards a new paradigm of 'people-based development' that shifts resources and power closer to communities, and that gives primacy to building local assets, capacities, and trust.
Join GWP for a sharing session with Karris as she describes her experience at the conference, shares what she learned, and discusses its impact on her work going forward.
This will be a brown-bag meeting so please feel free to bring your lunch. Drinks and desserts will be provided.
