Volunteering in America: Round One

Wednesday, January 7, 2015
Data from Volunteering and Civic Life in America, a new report from the Corporation for National and Community Service, show some decline in the rates of American volunteerism in 2013. About 36 percent of Americans were involved in schools, religious and other civic organizations – nearly a 3 percent drop compared with 2011. This echoes data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, which put the volunteerism rate in 2013 at its lowest level since BLS began compiling the data in 2002. In addition to the overall findings, you may view data on volunteering and civic engagement in Pennsylvania and in Pittsburgh.
