At a recent convening of the US Chamber of Commerce Foundation, corporate philanthropy leaders and public-private partners met to discuss the role of corporations in fighting the nation’s opioid crisis. A representative of Belden, a global communications technology firm, described a pilot program the company started when it was having trouble with hires: too many potential employees could not pass a drug screen. Its Pathways to Employment program offers rehabilitation to job applicants and completing the rehab program enables the participants to become Belden employees.
