In mid-October, GWP member Greater Pittsburgh Arts Council will be honored by CLASS as one of its 2014 Community Heroes for its ”Increasing Accessibility to Pittsburgh Arts and Culture” initiative. GPAC’s work, supported by FISA Foundation and an NEA Arts Work! grant, has evolved into a national model for how a region can increase access to the arts for patrons, volunteers, employees and artists with disabilities. Partnering with other organizations, GPAC offers ongoing education and technical assistance for cultural groups, hosts a peer network for arts administrators, created the Dee Delaney Accessibility Fund and shares resources to help cultural organizations welcome audiences of all abilities.
