GWP and its members mourn the passing of philanthropist, activist and civic leader Elsie Hillman, the chair of the Elsie H. Hillman Foundation and a trustee of the Hillman Family Foundation. The recipient of numerous honors for her civic leadership, including eight honorary degrees, Elsie’s pioneering work was recently profiled by University of Pittsburgh Institute of Politics in the publication, “Never a Spectator: The Political Life of Elsie Hillman.” At GWP, we are saddened by her passing, but we will always be inspired by the memory of her energy, her generosity and her spirit of warmth and delight. A community celebration of her life is being planned for September 19. More information on Elsie’s life is available here.
