Almost two-thirds of Americans express considerable confidence in public charities, according to a new poll reported in the Chronicle of Philanthropy. In this poll, more than 80 percent of respondents said that charities do a very good or somewhat good job helping people. A significant number of Americans expressed concern about nonprofits’ financial management, including executive compensation. However, less positively, more than one-third reported that they had little or no confidence in charities.
