Funding organizations constantly self-organize around shared goals to increase their impact; here are ways to find others with similar interests.

National Funders’ Networks

Council on Foundations
A Washington, DC-based national association and leading advocate for the growth and accountability of philanthropy.

A national network for donors, trustees and others who “choose to give big by staying small.”

Philanthropy Roundtable
A national network with strong interest in philanthropic independence, autonomy and effectiveness.

Independent Sector
A national coalition of foundations, nonprofits and corporate giving programs dedicated to advancing the common good                

Research and Statistics

The Foundation Center  is the pre-eminent source for information about foundation giving.  Its Foundation Stats service offers searchable statistics and data on funding organizations and grants.

Urban Institute Center on Nonprofits and Philanthropy hosts the National Center for Charitable Statistics – a key resource for data on nonprofits and the entire charitable sector.

Leading academic centers for study of philanthropy include:
