While many students develop and maintain healthy behaviors throughout adolescence, some have a higher risk of poor health outcomes.

The Youth Risk Behavior Survey is a national survey conducted by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention which aims to inform decision-makers and stakeholders and guide public health action to decrease the prevalence of high-risk behaviors among students. Pittsburgh Public Schools partnered with Allegheny County Health Department and UPMC Children’s Hospital to conduct this survey with all high school students in October 2018.

The survey asked questions about exercise, eating habits, relationships, violence, mental health, substance use, sexual health, other related behaviors, social supports, and connectedness. The survey helps the school district learn more about students’ needs and guide support for students.

Join us as we review the findings from the survey to highlight key opportunities for prevention and intervention.

This will be a brown bag meeting, so please feel free to bring your lunch. Beverages and snacks will be provided.
