Makers continue to emerge as important contributors to equitable economic growth. Using traditional handwork processes and advanced manufacturing, these creative businesses stimulate local manufacturing, create jobs, reactivate industrial spaces, and revitalize main streets.

There are many opportunities for philanthropic organizations to support the progress of this growing sector of the creative economy and “double impact” on their investments by supporting nonprofit missions while injecting opportunity into the creative and manufacturing economies.

Please join us at the PG&H Pop Up in Downtown Pittsburgh for an evening of conversation with a beautiful backdrop of locally made products. We’ll hear about how some local nonprofits have been working with PG&H and about next steps and the vision for the project. You may even find some special - locally made - gifts to complete your holiday shopping!

Light refreshments will be provided. The following organizations will provide brief overviews of their work with local makers to kick-off the conversation.

  • Richard King Mellon Foundation
  • Pittsburgh Downtown Partnership
  • Center for Victims
  • National Aviary
  • ACTION-Housing
  • Bridgeway Capital’s Craft Business Accelerator
