Join GWP for an update on the plans for the 2020 U.S. Census in Allegheny County, and what opportunities there may be for private philanthropy to help promote an accurate count.

During the briefing, participants can expect to receive information on the activities of the county-city Complete Count Committee (CCC) and efforts underway to prepare the region for the 2020 Census.  Andrea Stanford and Feyisola Alabi, who are leading census efforts for Allegheny County and the city of Pittsburgh, will share:

  • Overview of the Census – a primer on the significance and impact of the 2020 Census
  • Complexity of the 2020 Census – an update on how the 2020 Census is different from previous decennial Census years and how these dynamics can impact participation (i.e. pending litigation on citizenship question, digital divide, etc.)
  • Community Participation in 2020 Census – an update on the county-city Complete Count Committee framework, including a high-level overview of the types of outreach and engagement strategies that are being developed to ensure a complete and accurate count

GWP members will be invited to discuss what their organizations might do or may already be doing to address the challenges of ensuring that hard-to-count populations are reached.
