In 2014, DICK’S Sporting Goods announced a $25 million, two-year commitment to youth sports in the US through their Sports Matter program. At the heart of this initiative was a crowdfunding platform which allowed teams to mobilize their networks and earn matching donations. Since then, the program continued to expand and has evolved to a successful crowdfunding partnership with DonorsChoose.org and works to ensure more sustainable impact and broadening awareness of Sports Matter among thousands of donors. In addition, in 2016, Dick’s developed ‘Green Laces’, a point-of-sale campaign which donates $2 from every sale back to youth sports.
Elizabeth Baran and the recently hired new Executive Director, together with the team at Dick’s Sporting Goods Foundation will lead us in this discussion, providing examples of lessons-learned from these initiatives and more. Join your colleagues for this opportunity to discuss the important role of crowdfunding, marketing, and storytelling in corporate giving.
Special thanks to Dick’s Sporting Goods for hosting us and providing lunch for this session.
