For years we’ve heard that “…arts education is a disassembled engine lying on the garage floor.” How can regional funders address decades of inconsistent support for arts education and inequitable access to high quality creative experiences for young people? Recent trends in education funding show some optimistic patterns in the field, as funders prioritize social and emotional learning, expanded learning in out-of-school settings, and arts education in schools.

At this session, The Heinz Endowments will present the new Creative Learning initiative and welcome GWP members who have experience funding arts education both in and outside of school to share their ideas about how we can coordinate strategies in the region.

This will be a brown bag session, feel free to bring a lunch.  Desserts and beverages will be provided.

The greater Pittsburgh region takes pride in its cultural assets, and the philanthropic community has a long history of making investments in them.  Through this network, GWP members gather to learn about trends and issues affecting arts and cultural organizations, as well as emerging approaches to strengthening this vital sector of the community.
