Please note, this meeting was originally scheduled in February, but was postponed to the new date of Tuesday, March 13th.

At our last session, we gathered to discuss best practices for official grant correspondence such as receipt of application, award and decline letters, and grant agreements.  While streamlining these communications is desirable both for funders and nonprofits, a number of questions were raised about what is legally required and what by law should NOT appear in grants communications.

Carolyn Duronio, a partner at Reed Smith, has agreed to join this meeting to address these questions.  She is a nationally recognized expert on exempt organizations including public charities and private foundations.  Much of her practice is devotes to assisting exempt organizations with day to day legal matters, including representing exempt organizations before the Internal Revenue Service and federal courts.  Carolyn will review such matters as :

  • How to deal with electronic signatures
  • Responding to questions regarding the Patriot Act
  • General do’s and don’ts of grant communications
  • Give an overview on fiscal sponsorships

She will also, of course, be able to answer questions from attenders that arise from your specific circumstances.

Please join us for a lunchtime meeting to follow up on our discussion about official grant correspondence and other grants administration matters.
