ProInspire/Equity in the Center (https://www.equityinthecenter.org/) joins the Good Ideas Forum to engage and support leaders in bold conversation on the tactics and tools that will drive action to combat structural racism within an organization’s culture. Nonprofit Leaders and Consultants are invited to join in facilitated conversation on the unique role and challenges of leaders in diversity, inclusion, and equity work, as well as the management and operational best practices that can drive progress on race equity in their respective organizations.

Led by Andrew Plumley, Associate Director of Equity in the Center, research will be shared in an interactive forum that promotes learning and inspires participants to move from intention to action as they lead their teams in the adaptive challenge of building a Race Equity Culture.

Expected Outcomes:

  • Understanding of Equity in the Center’s Race Equity Cycle framework and the “Awake to Woke to Work: Building a Race Equity Culture” publication (please see the paper here: Awake to Woke to Work: Building a Race Equity Culture.
  • Understanding of the seven levers, management, and operational best practices that have successfully helped organizations shift culture from Awake to Woke to Work.
  • Discussion of clear action steps leaders can take to drive inclusion and equity.

About Equity in the Center:

Equity in the Center works to shift mindsets, practices and systems within the social sector to increase race equity. EitC believes in a future where nonprofit and philanthropic organizations define, implement, and advance race equity internally while advocating and centering it in their work externally.

About Andrew Plumley:

Andrew Plumley is Associate Director at Equity in the Center, a field-wide initiative to influence social sector leaders to shift mindsets, practices, and systems to achieve race equity. He started his career in education, where he advised higher education institutions on diversity and inclusion strategy, as well as provided access and success programming for Pell eligible students of color. A true systems entrepreneur, Andrew focuses on creating true and lasting systems change for the communities he partners with and supports. He currently serves as a Young Black and Giving Back Institute board chair, an ATMTC diversity, equity, and inclusion task force member, an American Express N-Gen Fellow, as well as served as a city council appointed Police Commissioner in the state of Vermont. Andrew has a BA from Middlebury College, and received an MBA with a focus in social and environmental sustainability from the University of Vermont’s Grossman School of Business.
