The Council of New Jersey Grantmakers 2016 Spring Colloquium

Live Simulcast on Tuesday, May 24 from 11:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. (EDT)

A Conversation on the Social Sector

Every other year, the Council of New Jersey Grantmakers brings together recognized thought leaders from both the philanthropic and nonprofit sectors for a conversation exploring topics of critical interest to the future of the social sector. The 2016 Spring Colloquium will consider the changing “public contract” and the growing expectations of the social sector.

With the privatization and de-funding of many services, grantmakers and their nonprofit partners find themselves expected to assume responsibility for providing these services, but with dramatically smaller resources. How should foundation and nonprofit leaders be planning for their work? What will the new normal look like? What possible service shifts are particularly problematic for the social sector to consider? What should be left behind and what should be re-invented? How can the philanthropic and nonprofit sectors ensure they have a voice in these important discussions?

We hope you will join GWP as we, along with many other regional associations throughout the country, host this simulcast gathering.  We will reflect together, along with our colleagues in New Jersey, on the shift that is taking place in responsibility for providing public services that have historically been in the domain of government.
