All GWP members are cordially invited to a special screening of the film “Brave Miss World,” hosted by Jewish Healthcare Foundation and GWP.

Late in 2014 a group of GWP members began working to share information and develop strategies to help the region’s colleges and universities prevent and better handle sexual assault on their campuses.  Several members reported they had been profoundly affected by seeing the film “Brave Miss World” as part of the spring 2014 JFilm series.  Our colleagues at Jewish Healthcare Foundation have now generously arranged for a special screening of “Brave Miss World” for GWP members and selected guests.

This film, directed by Cecilia Peck, shares the story of Linor Abargil, an 18 year old beauty queen who had been named“Miss Israel” when she was abducted and raped in Milan, Italy.   Two months later, in November 1998, she was crowned “Miss World.”    A decade later, Linor is ready to talk about the crime, the subsequent trial and to encourage others to speak out as well.  Now a global victims’ advocate, she visits teen girls in South Africa, U.S. college campuses, and returns to Italy to find the prosecutor who partnered with Israeli authorities to arrest her attacker.  Her message is simple: no victim of a sexual assault should suffer in silence.

All GWP members are welcome to attend the screening – we especially encourage male colleagues to join us on behalf of sisters, wives, mothers and daughters.   Please register below and plan to join us!
