Are affordable housing and social services the best way to bring positive change to an underserved neighborhood? Is there a way to bring economic development to a neighborhood by making it visible and interesting to the “haves” not just the “have nots”? Is there a demographic that will bring economic development with it?
These were the questions that cityLAB posed and the 6% Place with its Tiny House experiment, emerged. Eve Picker will talk about the complexity of building a 330 square foot home on a tiny lot in Pittsburgh, from how to pay to replace poor infrastructure to how to establish a new market.
You can read about Eve at evepicker.com and the Tiny House Journal at cityLABpgh.org.
This meeting is sponsored by the Community Development Roundtable and will be a brown-bag meeting. Feel free to bring a lunch; drinks and dessert will be provided.
