Bayer Center for Nonprofit Management /Robert Morris University

The Bayer Center works to build strong nonprofits by offering ongoing classes and trainings for nonprofit staff and boards.  Bayer Center also provides custom consulting and coaching services, undertakes research for and about the nonprofit sector, and offers the BoardsWork  program to help nonprofit organizations  develop  strong leadership..   

Nonprofit Resource Center / Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh

The Nonprofit Resource Center, located in the Main branch of the library in Oakland, is a Funding Information Network partner of the Foundation Center in New York.   It offers  an array of  resources  on  foundations and fundraising,  including access to specialized databases for those seeking grant funding.  Sign up for its email list to receive notice of ongoing classes and trainings. 

Nonprofit Consultant Directory

The Forbes Funds makes it easy for nonprofits to find consultants that best suit their needs. The Consultant Directory is a searchable database of local consultants, including their areas of expertise and past work.

The Forbes Funds also offers a free, web-based service to help Pittsburgh-area nonprofits  find appropriate space or advertise their available space for rent or purchase .

Nonprofit Research and Statistics

National Center for Charitable Statistics – Urban Institute

NCCS develops and disseminates data on nonprofit organizations, their finances and their activities.  Its website offers access to over 200 data files, and NCCS produces reports and data on the entire nonprofit sector.  Nonprofits also use the NCCS website to file their Form 990s (the annual tax returns required of nonprofits).

This interactive web application created by Johns Hopkins researchers brings powerful data on nonprofit employment, establishments, and wages to the fingertips of nonprofit organizations, researchers, and those supporting them in states and counties throughout the country.
